Instant Gud Poha | इंस्टेंट गुड़ पोहा
POHA or Beaten Rice or Flattened Rice is the easiest and favourite breakfast option in the Indian regions. It has various names in different parts like in south region it is known as Aval whereas in the north they have multiple names for poha(this name is mostly used in Maharashtra and Gujarat).The poha is prefered by most people as it helps in making easy poha recipes like the one I made here is Instant Gud Poha.
One can make varieties of dishes using poha like kanda poha, dadpe poha, poha cutlet, etc…Here in this post you will learn how to make sweet poha known as Gud Poha. This recipe is again from my granny’s kitchen and of all recipes it is the simplest one.
The name itself says Instant Gud Poha as it takes minimum time and effort to prepare this recipe. You can prefer it as your breakfast as well as a desert or have it in mid time too.
This recipe is actually a good option for toddlers as we don’t prefer spicy food for them. You can also pack in your Kids Tiffin as it takes very less time for preparing.
Using jaggery to this recipe makes it so healthy and nutritious. Also the poha being flattened easily absorbs with any ingredients and helps for digestion.
So without wasting time, let’s start with the recipe.

Ingredients (सामग्री):
- 2 medium bowls of flattened rice or poha(about 100 gram) (२ बाउल पोहा लगभग १०० ग्राम)
- 1/3 of medium size bowl of grated jaggery(about 100 gram) (१/३ बाउल किसा हुआ गुड़ लगभग १०० ग्राम)
- 1-2 teaspoon ghee (१-२ छोटा चमच घी)
- 2 teaspoon cardamom powder (२ छोटा चमच इलाइची पाउडर)

How to make Instant Gud Poha (इंस्टेंट गुड़ पोहा कैसे बनाए):
- The very first and common step is to take a pan or kadai and add 1-2 teaspoon ghee to it.
- सबसे पहले एक पैन या कड़ाई लीजिए और उसमे १-२ छोटा चमच घी डाले।
- Then add grated jaggery and stir until the jaggery is melted evenly.
- अब उसमे किसा हुआ गुड़ मिलाए और गुड़ पूरी तरह पिघलने दे।
- Rinse poha under cold water to remove the dust. Stain water completely and rest aside.
- पोहा को ठन्डे पानी से अच्छे से धोये और पानी निचोड़कर बाजु में रखे।
- Once jaggery melted, add poha to it and mix well till the each poha rice is coated with jaggery.
- एक बार गुड़ अच्छे से जाए तो उसमे भिगोया हुआ पोहा मिलाए और मिक्स करे।
- Sprinkle 2 teaspoon of cardamom powder and mix again.
- ऊपर से २ छोटा चमच इलाइची पाउडर मिलाए और मिक्स करे।
- Cook on low flame for 2 minutes and then turn off the flame.
- धीमी आंच पर २ मिनट तक पकाए और गैस बंद करे।
- Your Instant Gud Poha is ready to serve.
- अब आपका इंस्टेंट गुड़ पोहा सर्व करने के लिए तैयार है। गरमा गरम परोसे।
- Always serve hot to enjoy the flavour.
Tips and Variations:
- Always prefer thick or medium sized Poha and do not use thin poha for this recipe since thin poha gets smashed after wash.
- To get variations to this dish, you can add ½ cup of milk and 2 teaspoon of grated fresh coconut for the crunchier feel.
- To get the fruity flavour, you can also add smashed or finely chopped banana to it.
- If jaggery is not available, you can substitute sugar but again there is a big calorie issue what we are always concern of…Right??
